Trainees

The traineeships is a compulsary part of the curriculum at HAS Den Bosch University of Applied Sciences. Apart from doing a traineeship in the Netherlands, all Dutch students are obliged to complete a traineeship abroad. International students usually choose to do their traineeships in a Dutch company, but are also allowed to choose a company abroad.

Traineeships in International Cooperation
 
HAS Den Bosch sets store by taking part in development cooperation. More and more of our students choose to apply and increase their technical knowledge by participating in sustainable development projects. HAS Den Bosch wants to incourage this development.
 
Since we understand that development organisations are often restricted in offering financial compensation to their trainees, HAS Den Bosch and the Federation of Agriculture and Horticulture of the South of the Netherlands (ZLTO) have set  up the Antoon Vermeer Internship Fund for International Cooperation (IFIC). This fund helps students to make the traineeships financially possible. 
 
Students can apply for a Antoon Vermeer IFIC scholarship when the traineeship meets the following criteria: 
  • the traineeship knows a minimum duration of 12 weeks
  • the country where the traineeship takes place is categorised as a developing country
  • the traineeship is part of a project that has a strong focus on sustainability  and knows a strong involvement of the local community and local organisations

Examples of projects where students have done traineeships with the help of a grant from the Antoon Vermeer IFIC fund are for instance:
  • Writing a meal plan for children in an educational institute in Indonesia
  • Hydrologic research in Zambia
  • Mapping out logistic bottlenecks in fruit processing in India
  • Contributions to a school garden project (by order of ZLTO)

If you offer an interesting traineeship that may fit in with the conditions of the Antoon Vermeer IFIC fund, you can contact Gemma Hermes-Jansen (G.Hermes@hasdb.nl) of Communication and International Affairs of HAS Den Bosch University of Applied Sciences. She will be able to pass on the traineeship assignment to the right traineeship coordinator. Of course, she can also pass on traineeships that do not fit in with the conditions of the fund.
